This version corrects the creation of additional duplicate database entries, it also adds spacing in the menu buttons after the icons, finally it allows for the addition of additional icons to suit your requirements all requested / suggested by @mhsuffolk.

18/09/2026 V2.3 adds a per-link New tab switch in Quick Links Manager. Existing links continue to open in the same tab until their switch is enabled. It also keeps new row IDs distinct when removing and adding links before saving. No database changes are needed.

What it does:
-------------
There are several internal and external links that I visit often from my admin page. To save time looking for the link in the standard admin menu or typing in an external link I like to have a separate set of buttons on the admin screen that allow instant access to whatever links you visit often.

New Installation:
-----------------

1) Copy the 3 provided files into your admin directory, respecting the folder structure.

2) On your admin page, go to the Tools Menu You will see a new entry called "Quick Links Manager." if not refresh the page and it should appear.

3) Click on this entry - this will take you to the quick links manager page

4) Add/remove menu items, assign icons, choose a button colour, and use the New tab switch for each link. Off opens in the same tab (the default). Press "Save Configuration".

5) Internal links should have the format filename.php and external links should be the full path ie https://www.site.com

6) In the "exclude Pages" box add, as a minimum invoice.php and packing_slip.php each on a new line in the box. Also add here any custom pages you generate such as label prints etc.

7) The "Available Icons Library" box allows you to customise (add or remove) icons. These are added at one per line in the format
eg. fa-shopping-cart then again press "save configuration"

8) There is a link to fontawsome.com where you can find 1000's of icons to use as you please.

9) Navigate to any admin page to test your new quick access links which should appear at the top of any admin page.

Updating from other versions
----------------------------

From V2.2: Replace admin/quick_links_manage.php and catalog/includes/hooks/admin/siteWide/quicklinksmenu.php with the supplied files in their existing locations. Existing links and settings are retained. The new switch is off for existing links. No SQL update is needed.

1) Simply copy the 3 files to the correct locations, refresh your admin page. That's it! However, if duplicate database entries have been created run the following sql command via phpMyAdmin:

 DELETE FROM configuration WHERE configuration_key = 'MODULE_ADMIN_QUICK_LINKS_JSON' AND configuration_id NOT IN (SELECT MIN(configuration_id) FROM (SELECT * FROM configuration) as temp WHERE configuration_key = 'MODULE_ADMIN_QUICK_LINKS_JSON');

DELETE FROM configuration WHERE configuration_key = 'MODULE_ADMIN_QUICK_LINKS_EXCLUDE' AND configuration_id NOT IN (SELECT MIN(configuration_id) FROM (SELECT * FROM configuration) as temp WHERE configuration_key = 'MODULE_ADMIN_QUICK_LINKS_EXCLUDE');

Troubleshooting:
----------------

If your links do not appear after installation, please clear your cache/ directory to force the system to refresh the hook registry.

If you are using a custom Admin template and the links do not appear, ensure that your template supports standard Phoenix Cart hooks.

As usual, no responsibility is accepted for anything :)
