Well it took me a while to get back to this but I have discovered what was causing the problem.

I did not want a watermark image so when I removed watermark.png from the 'KissIT Watermark File Name' that broke the store.

My work around was to edit the watermark.png and make it just a blank background, reset the thumbs and hey presto it worked.

So it is unrelated to the image hook and info page!
There is a configuration setting to disable watermark using watermark size zero. There is also the possibility to disable watermark for specific images. Please see instructions.
