basically adding an extra field in either the payment page or confirmation page but its from a shipping module instead of a payment module.

people may find a use for this, if they need an extra field but don't want to edit a payment module

What is the purpose of an extra field? You mention for shipping but there is already an addon for shipping from checkout.
