Failing to load images and text on product info page

Hi, I've had this store for years with no issue. But today it was hit by thousands of visitors (or maybe hackers, bots etc) and after some while, some of my images and text stopped displaying/loading on the product info page.

I am missing the product name, product price, seo description and some gallery images. Please can you help with help with this? Could it be a database issue as this only happens on the product info page.

I need the following global values which are missing from where they ought to display:

Are these still valid for Phoenix cart?

1. Is this data missing on the display of all products, or only some of them?
2. If you view a product in admin, can you see the data that doesn't show in the catalog?
3. For the images, it may be that your browser couldn't load them due to the traffic overwhelming the server and has cached them as missing. Try viewing using an incognito window which won't use the cache.

The data missing is on all products but I can confirm the data is all there in admin. I spent most of last night trying to get things back up and running by using raw data and file backups. I had block all traffic to my store except myself of course whilst trying to sort this out. Restoring a backup copy of my products_info.php file finally got store back online early this morning.

Today I still see a high number of hits to store. Looked in phpMyAdmin and there are high thousands of sessions and users online. At time of this post, I took this snapshot of who's online:

I don't know what to make of that but the hits have not turned out to orders. So, I'm inclined to think this is something malicious. What say you?

Hi

Not sure if this is any help, but if the data is showing in admin but not in the store I would look to see if all your modules are still installed for the product info modules. You may ned to uninstall them first before reinstalling them in your admin.

Have you compared the differences between the product_info file that wasn't working and the backup you found that fixed it? It will help understand the cause of the issue.

Have you got spider sessions prevented? Admin > Configuration > Sessions > Prevent Spider Sessions
This will keep your sessions table smaller.

Have you got a reasonably up to date includes/spiders.txt? This will recognise more spiders.

Absolutely. Looking at it, it could do with a bit of optimisation - the string "spider" would cover all the other lines that include it.

I have a couple of sites that have enhanced spider code that logs any agents including spider, crawl, bot and so on to identify possible new ones for manual checking. There have been a lot of ai ones lately.

My sessions settings are correct and do not permit spider sessions. I'll update my includes/spiders.txt fo additional protection.
