Installation Issue: There was a problem importing the database

Post by GetSirius »

Hello,

Attempting to do a new install of CE Phoenix Cart v1.1.0.6.
Fresh download, (Phoenix did not show up in Softaculous)
PHP 8.3 (ea-php83). Apache Version 2.4.65. Linux shared server.

When I do the first page with database information it does not work. With a database and user setup before installing I get the message "There was a problem importing the database: undefined Please double check your server, user & password details and try again." I have checked database info, set up a second database with different names, still nothing. Not my first install, pretty sure I am doing things right. I am using the same name for database and database user name if that may be the issue, has not caused me any issue in the past.

Tried setting up without an existing database, but using a newly created database user, I get "There was a problem importing the database: Could Not Create Database, please create boomboom_boom25 manually Please double check your server, user & password details and try again."

Try installing with no database or user and get the following: "There was a problem connecting to the database server: Access denied for user '*******_boom25'@'localhost' (using password: YES)"

Message about basic database use has been sent to server tech support. Pretty sure I have it right..
Edit: Hosting company says I am doing things correctly on their side.

Any ideas on how to get this install to work? Thank you!
-Chuck

When you set up your database, is it set up as myISAM or InnoDB?

ArtcoInc, thanks for the reply. Good question, one that I do not know how to answer. Set up using cPanel. I have set up other databases using the same shared server reseller account, one for Phoenix, several for old osCommerce versions, all worked.

How to I find if the database is myISAM or InnoDB?
If needed, can I change this using cPanel?

That's strange as Phoenix is definitely in there;
https://www.softaculous.com/apps/ecommerce/CE_Phoenix

In any case, the general idea for a manual installation is;

1. upload Phoenix
2. do NOT create database as this will be created as part of the installation, but you do need a user and password
3. go to /install/ and follow instructions

You might like to look at error_log and see if there is anything in there.

Removed all files, re-expanded Phoenix files, ran installer and it did not work as shown in image. All fields were checked green on the first step. "myaccount" is filled in with the proper text for my server, I changed it here for this shared image.

Tried to install on a different account, on same reseller server, Nope.

Tried to install on a different server, same hosting company, PHP7.4.33. Got the same errors. This server has a working install of CE Phoenix v1.0.8.20

Tried to install on same different server, same host, PHP7.4.33, with database set up before installing. Received a different error, interesting that "success" shows up:
There was a problem importing the database: Success Please double check your server, user & password details and try again.

checked green means nothing other than you have written something that complies.
Your username or your password may be incorrect.
Check with your host if you can't check the error_log yourself or if the error_log shows nothing.

Does the user have sufficient privileges to create a database ?

When I mentioned checked green, I was referring to the very first page where Phoenix is checking environment. Should have said green thumbs!

No error_log file was created in either root or /shop
Nothing noted in cPanel/Metrics/Errors

I believe user can create a database, I was able to manually create a database on both servers. The server I was trying to install Phoenix on has an old osCommerce install, still there but disabled and hidden.

I will contact my host

Thank you!

Host says "...classic database connection error and points to an issue with the user credentials (username or password)..."

I am sure I am using correct information, I type it up in a text file on my computer, then copy/paste to Phoenix and also used copy/paste when trying to set up a database first.

So, my server sets up database user names as accountName_desiredName
Should I be entering the full "accountName_desiredName", or just "desiredName"? I have tried both.

Here is the reply from hosting provider:
"I have tried to install Phoenix, but I am getting the "Please double check your server, user & password details and try again." error. However, I have tested a PHP file called test.php under the shop for MySQL connection, and it is working fine. Please try the link. I am not sure about the error, please touch base with Phoenix support for any help."

I tried the test file provided and it did connect to the database. Here is the code:

Code: Select all

<?php
$host = 'localhost';
$dbname = '*deleted*';
$user = '*deleted*';
$pass = '*deleted*';

try {
    $pdo = new PDO("mysql:host=$host;charset=utf8mb4", $user, $pass);

    echo "Database connection successful!";
} catch (PDOException $e) {
    echo "Connection failed: " . $e->getMessage();
}
?>
Where do I go from here?
