Admin / YourShop link

Post by Nigel »

Admin / YourShop link

Can I suggest the Admin Your Shop link be made to open a new tab or even a new browser instance rather than move you away from the admin area you're working on.

I usually right click on it to open it as a new tab although I don't always remember.

Just an idea :)

The problem with that is if someone does not want to open in a new tab, then it is difficult for that person to change "open in new" back to "open in same". Whereas it is trivial to convert "open in same" to "open in new" by right clicking and selecting that option. Because every browser includes that option for links.

It will probably be easier to change to a link that opens in a new tab after 1.0.8.2. I.e. this would probably be something that people could do with a hook.

Ok.
I understand what you're saying but I don't understand why someone would want to move from within admin out into an instance. You're bound to move further into the new tab and then have to go back many times before you reach admin which, again, you're almost certain to want to do, especially during development.

It's an individual thing of course. :)

If you have a mouse with a wheel, click the link with your wheel.
If you have unwheeled mouse, hold down Ctrl and Click.

If you have no mouse, I don't know.

It's ideal right? One of those hidden features that you only get to know about if you stumble across it :D

Also, in both Chrome and IE (edge), if you have multiple tabs open, you can click on one of the "not live" tabs (with the mouse wheel), which then closes the tab.
