Export orders or just customer data to Quickbooks

Has anyone created anything that will import customers and orders into Quickbooks Online. I have recently started using Quickbooks and it takes so long just to enter new customers in the system. Products are not that bad as over time most will be entered manually.

If not it may be time to talk to a developer and see what the costs are.

I did that at one point Steve and used a few stand-a-lone programs to import data into Quickbooks...none were ideal but they got the job done. I think Google should give you a few suggestions to have a look at. In the end I found I was maintaining two systems with a ton of duplication and finally decided to just use Quickbooks for it's accounting functions and not for customer or inventory data, or invoicing. I wrote a couple of "end of day" reports to give me the basic information on what the sales, taxes, cost of goods etc were for the day and simply entered those into Quickbooks at the end of each day, week or monthly period and got away from importing customer and inventory data into Quickbooks. Customers and Inventory are managed in one place, in Phoenix, and accounting is done in Quickbooks.

It took awhile to get the "end of day" report sorted out the way I wanted but was the best thing I ever did. I've never looked back.

Thanks for the reply Dan. We are having so much trouble getting simple things done in quickbooks online its getting a bit of a joke. I have tried entering customer data using the sample data required by Quickbooks and half of the information that can be added into the customer page is missing. Quickbooks cant seem to help, or at least the person on the phone had no idea.

Even updating prices is a long winded job. I thought it easiest to update a price of a product when entering the latest price into an invoice or in our case a sales receipt but thats not possible You can update prices individually but you have t oclose down one page and open another. I now run two pages open at the same time. Best thing Quickbooks customer service can say is to download a copy of the data, open in a spread, change the date, and upload it back. That would work great if there was not a maximum number of lines you can import in one go.

We will have to get something sorted as its taking too long at the moment.
