I downloaded a complete backup of my godaddy site. Its a 19GB file with absolutely nothing. Its supposed to be used to transfer my site to another host. I see nothing in it of any use.

Use FTP software (e.g. Filezilla or WinSCP) to download your site?

For one thing, the backup file is compressed, meaning you wouldn't be able to "see" anything human readable.

if your new hosts also use cpanel they should offer a free migration service. Saying that most hosts will migrate for free. Speak to your new hosts.

On Cpanel, if you highlight your shopping cart DIR, then you should have an option to ZIP that directory, then download the ZIP file.
This is much faster than downloading the whole DIR by normal download options.
You can do the same with your home DIR, by highlighting all the files then zipping em, or highlight the whole website by selecting all files and DIR's.
