Product Tags Collections Index Module

Afternoon all,
I am creating an index module that will show all the options under a specific tag/specification.
Bit of backgound - some of the products we sell have a similar theme/style, we group these into 'collections' using the products specification/tags addon.
So far I have created the tags group (Collections) and 2 test tags (Test & Test 2). I've also duplicated an index module to get myself on my way.
Using the existing tag.php components I've been able to get the module to appear and show the 2 test collections.
What I am wanting to do next is have it grab the main images from the products in the collection and either show them as a collage or on a slider.
I'm going to keep working at this but thought I would put it out there for suggestions.
