This cannot just be me, but we seem to be having a spate of customers who do not update their addresses, and then complain when we send orders out to the address we have, which is an old address. We have had this happen a few times this month, and even more times in the past.

I was wondering if having an agreement selection checkbox that mentions checking address details would be a good idea and would stop this sort of thing happening. Or on the other hand would it stop others buying as its another thing to do during checkout. Or would it just be better and easier to have a message at the top of the shipping page mentioning to check all information including the address.

What are peoples thoughts?

Why not have a tickbox where they cannot go further unless they tick. Like the MATC tickbox.

If you end up going that route, I have made such a thing (hook, no core changes) sometime last year or maybe the year before. It might need some minor tweaking if you are on Bootstrap 4 (the default theme), and definitely would need some tweaking if you are on the recent bootstrap 5 theme.

Could dig it out, if of interest, for a beer or two.

I would love to take you up on your offer. Its been a while since I have sent you a few beers. It is just getting frustrating now we are getting busier having to sort out problems that should not happen. I had to go and find somewhere quiet. if I started smoking again I would have had to have a few I think.

A checkbox is the sort of thing I was thinking of as its probable the less obtrusive way of getting people to check their details are correct.

I'll find it tonight and test it. Will PM you tomorrow.

What about a box on one of the checkout pages showing the customers address and saying this is the address we will be sending your order to with butons saying "OK" and "edit my address"

There already this on checkout_shipping.php and on checkout_confirmation.php
I think Steve wanted something more obvious.

Even though the address is clearly on the shipping and checkout pages and the edit button is there, we have had a few customers, for reasons best known to them, have orders delivered to an old address. It has only happened a few times this year so far, but when it does happen it causes me stress, and that's not good. We had one customer do a chargeback, which obviously cost us time to sort out, and got cancelled when we found out the address was wrong. It wouldn't be so bad if the items did eventually get returned to us, but it rarely happens even though our address is on each and every parcel. We may have a solution now though, just need to test it out.

Should anyone else need the same solution, it is up in the ADDONS area;

app.php/addons/paid_addon/confirm_shipping_address/

Although it states "paid addon", there is no set price [it's a "buy a beverage" so up to you] and you can try it first to see if it suits your need.

Many thanks to Steve for the testing and feedback. Note that I have two versions so one or the other should work all the way from earlyish Phoenix up to latest Phoenix.
