Hi All, is it possible to set a default category in Phoenix? I want to display only products from a default category for the latest products and let users browse other categories as they wish. Possible to do this? Thank you.

Sounds like you want to replace the Core "New Products for <month>" module with a module that simply shows products from a chosen category ? If that is so, you have all the jigsaw puzzle pieces you need already to make that new module.

Did you look already at the Addons Area ?

You don't state which version of Phoenix you are running.

I also have been thinking about doing this for my stores. Can anyone talk to us more about how this can be done. I am not sure what the last poster was hinting at or meant.

You are right @burt , this is what I'd like to do. Unfortunately, I don't know how to go about this. There isn't an addon for this either.

Have you thought of using the Featured Products addon. If that will not do what you want you may have to pay a developer to create something that fits your requirements. Its not as expensive to create something as you may think.

Thanks very much @14Steve14 and @bonbec ! Both your suggestions are a good idea. Using the featured products addon will do straightaway as I already have that installed and working in my store. My stores use an earlier version of Phoenix and are heavily customised, so not sure about the category products on index addon for now. It's be nice to get that at some point as it defaults everything to a chosen category.
