Not connecting to database during setup

Hello Everyone,

I hope someone can help. I'm trying to install the newest version. When I get to the database setup it tries and fails. the error There was a problem importing the database. The following error had occured:
Please verify the connection parameters and try again.

I've tried deleting and redoing the database several times. Tried pasting in the database info. As well as typing it same result. Also have tried the version next to the newest release same result have changed the php version. I have in motion hosting and their tech staff have looked deeply into. They say there is no reason why it shouldn't work however they did discover this error

Note: it probably still won't work afterwards, but the first, second, and fourth messages should go away. The third log message should show an actual DB error. That error is likely to be the real problem.

thank you for the reply. The fixes you outlined did get rid of the error. However now hanging on testing database connection

Change from MyIsam to InnoDB - internet search that phrase leads to instructions on how to do that.
