Telephone Orders

Part of the point of these admin side changes is to allow addon makers to do more, and easily.

As a quick example, I made a script which allows Shopowner to add a Customer from within Admin, see images below. All done, from 1.0.9.2 onwards with ZERO CORE CODE CHANGES.

Imagine you, shopowner, on the phone to a customer who is maybe not internet-savvy. Here you can make an account and then simply tell him to go to the shop side login page (note the second screen shot does not show full page, but it is, more or less, a copy of your shop-side create account page).

1. Add a Button in the top right called "Add A New Customer"
add_customer_1.jpg
This button opens up a new page which allows Customer Details to be inserted

2. Insert Customer Details, scroll down and press "Save"
add_customer_2.jpg
This redirects back the customers.php page which (obviously) shows the new Customer

3. New Customer showing in the list of Customers
add_customer_3.jpg
Obviously this is a new install so only shows one customer
Take note, this is all done with NO core code changes at all.
There is no other cart that can do this, this easily.
Now if you can add a MOTO to that we'd be able to do something that's been missing since osc2.3...
Current Store is now running 1.0.9.0 - php 8.2.18
Now working on taking a short rest :D - php 8.2.18

As per Google: No results found for "made over telephone order" moto.

Apparently MOTO stands for Mail Order/Telephone Order.

ChatGPT:
Moto can be short for "motorcycle" or "motorbike," especially in casual or colloquial speech. For example, "I ride my moto to work every day."

Moto can also refer to a brief statement of a guiding principle or a motto, often used to express the beliefs or aims of an individual or group. For instance, "Our team's moto is 'Never give up.'"

Additionally, "Moto" is a brand name, especially known for its mobile phones and accessories. So, in some contexts, "Moto" could refer specifically to products or services associated with that brand.

Yep, MOTO is an acronym I've never heard of.

What's stopping ya from getting this non-shop-side (so in the admin side I guess)order maker & payment system made then offering it back to Core Code?

We already take telephone orders. So simple to do. A payment module was created that only shows to the IP of the store owner. We then use master password and login to the customers account and treat it like a normal order as if the customer was doing it. That way there is no saving of the card details and hopefully in most cases the customer adds the items into their basket.

We probably only do 5 or so a week like that and have never had a problem but you have to be careful and customer not present transactions are a greater risk for fraud and chargebacks but the payment provider you choose will take care of most things for you. All you then have to do is follow their procedure for that type of payments.

It's easier to do it on the front end than recode - the amount of people phoning up to oder is very low (although it may be frowned up on by payment gateways)

I don't know what "very low" is.
Steve says 5 a week in the previous post.
Yours is similar?

Some type of admin side system might take (rough guess) 60 hours coding and testing, fixing, recoding, retesting, alpha testing, collating test results, recoding, beta test etc. 60 hours of a developers time is a lot of dough.

Put into a "time is money" context, that Queued Emails thing I made is, more or less, roughly equivalent in terms of code and time. I'm at a net loss of low 5 figures GBP (that's low 5 without a decimal point ) on that :?

My point is, I think;

Does "very low" usage tally with the somewhat large cost of creation of a MOTO system.
