Country Dropdown

Hi,
My stores deliver only to the U.K and I want a way to auto select "United Kingdom" in the country dropdown instead of "Please Select" when new customers are registering. Is it possible to do this? Or even remove that dropdown whilst still setting a value for country in the background?
