You don't say what version you are using but this was introduced in v1.0.9.4 so guessing you need to update your version -
viewforum.php?f=4

If you are on an earlier version there is a pro addon called 'Carousel on Index'. If you really need something like that on your front page you will need to become a pro member which is no bad thing and will get you lots of additional code and modules.
