Trying to add a banner to the top of the category page

Hi all,
I am trying (without much success) to put a banner above the categories display and below the category name (see red arrow on image to show where)
I have managed to do it on the new products page and the special offers page, it was simple with them because they had the php page names in the address bar (image from the new products page to show what I am trying to achieve with the category page).
But its not the same with the categories, I have tried "cm ip title php" and "index php" but the banner will not show, what am I missing ?
This is the code I am trying to put into the top of the category page :
Code: Select all
<p style="text-align: center; ">
<img border="0" src="https://xxxxxxx.com/shop/images/categories.png" width="100%" height="auto" align="middle">

app.php/addons/free_addon/categories_extended
Note that this addon is tagged up to v1.0.9.9 which is now quite old.
And that the addon may do more (ie be more complicated) than you need.

Hello burt,
Yes, that will be more complicated than what I need.
Also because of its age I will leave it alone, I have installed two old modules that are in use on the product page, a back to previous page button, and the Summernote Editor to add videos to the product page.
I think one of them is causing a issue with the php version, at the moment I am running 8.1, I tried to upgrade to 8.2, 8.3 and 8,4 , but each time the product page failed to load, so I went back to php 8.1.
As the product page has had very minor editing by me (just added a bit of text and a couple of small images) I can only presume its one or the two above modules that has caused the issue (either back button or because I have added a video).
As I dont understand these things I will stay away from the older modules just to be safe as I will need to upgrade the php at some point as 8.1 is quite old now, when I do have to upgrade I hope its because of the videos, then I will just remove them.
But if that is the only way I will leave it, thank you anyway.

Hi raiwa,
Thank you, not too sure what to do with that change log sheet, and it seems to only goes up to phoenix cart version 1 0 9 3.
And the link you supplied (need help), it just says on the page "The requested topic does not exist".

The content for category pages comes from two types of content modules: index_nested (categories containing categories) and index_products (categories containing products). The latter are also displayed when looking at products for a manufacturer.

The cheatset is intended to be used by developers and advanced users when they update older addons and modules to newer Phoenixcart versions. Its a list of old functions, heritage from OsCommerce, and their equivalents in Phoenixcart.
There is a second tab which shows replaced global and session variables and a third tab with the Bootstrap 4 to 5 update , introduced in Phoenixcart 1.1.0.0.

This linked to a pinned post with information how to ask for help in the forum and which information should be provided. I wasn't aware that it has been removed from the forum. I removed it now from my message footer.
