Old forum

Post by ReneH4 »

Since the old oscommerce forum is being flooded with messages about the new version, I have removed myself from that and will only use this forum from now on.

Power to Phoenix!

I'll continue there until the end of March, then that's it for me.

I have posted some questions to them recently about the new v4 but the answers have been a bit shall we say, non conclusive. They seem to be saying yes to almost any question about what it can do and what feature will be included. They even have shown screenshots on how to do things, but still there is no fixed release date. It makes you wonder what they are actually up to.

Lets hope that people move across to here once they realise that the main support for Phoenix is not there any more.

I to am only checking in every day to keep an eye on what is going on over there (nosey I know)

As Steve says there is a lot of blustering but no real evidence (yet)

As for me I am now here and here to stay (although made no contributory posts) and I have also downloaded all phoenix/osc addons that I think I will need in the future as I tink they wont be there for long.

Glad I am not the only one thinking this.

I have yet to have them say no to anything I have mentioned. The latest being about being able to attach a copy of the invoice to an order update. It sound as if there is nothing else needed for developers to improve with addons. Only thing I can think of is that some of the features will be paid for.

If I understood correctly, oscV4 will be a mix of osCommerce and trueloaded.co.uk.
The screenshots of the answers given come from sites using Trueloaded.

why is it that, with them not saying no to anything that i am trying to think of the most crazy idea, just to see if they say yes to it, i don't know something like the ability to turn the website upside down for the benefit of people living in Australia ;)

I am totally planning to try to convince Burt to change the demo to be upside down for April 1st. From https://www.isitwp.com/april-fools-flip ... r-website/

Code: Select all

body {
  -moz-transform: rotate(180deg);
  -webkit-transform: rotate(180deg);
  -o-transform: rotate(180deg);
}
Of course, in Phoenix, you don't need to get the core developers to do this for you. If you want an upside-down website, you can just use a hook. Or even user.css

As best I understand, Trueloaded is already an osCommerce fork. Just that rather than forking the 2018 version, they forked something older, perhaps 2.3.4.1. It's a Yii-skinned version rather than Bootstrap.
