I'm contemplating a square logo. I was wondering if anyone has used a square logo and what are size restrictions, if any?

No restrictions using a square logo but you'll end up with a lot more whitespace in that bar and between logo and search box. That's not very good for aesthetics.

Perhsps you could increase height of logo minimally and the width a bit more. Position the square part of your logo on the left of image and add your slogan on left of image. This is what I did for my install.
