Image Gallery Issue

Anyone enlighten me as to why when clicking an product image in the gallery link shows
/#lightbox
but doesn't open box rather redirects back to main page
I am using a clean 1.0.8.4 with only canada post shipping mod added

Usually means javascript is missing or turned off.
I have just tested on a new installation and it seems to work perfectly (ie, the modal window brings up the gallery of image(s).

Very strange works perfectly on mobile.
Yet intermittent on desktop.

I have had this problem with 1079 too, if I recall well it interfered with another add-on.
My 61 year old brain does not remember which one :-)
