I am pretty tempted to remove "newsletter" functionality from Phoenix.
Anyone have thoughts ? I wonder if anyone uses it in the way it was designed for ?

I don't use it Gary...the way it is set up, I never found it of much use. Using Queued Emails as well as an outside email service works for me.

I don't use it Gary.
Most of my customers, being the product of our modern education system, lack the ability to read past the first sentence.

I know of someone who used it to send regular newsletters. In my opinion, it could just as well be an add-on (or better; a choice of add-ons).

Customer price lists.
Either a specific list per customer or customer group.

We tried to use it many, many, years ago when running oscommerce, and after several attempts to send a sensible newsletter decided to use Mailchimp. and now Emailoctopus because of the changes made to Mailchimp, and a problem we were having which their support could not fix.

We now export the signed up customers weekly to our mailing list and that's it. Create an email offsite and send it. So easy, no flaffing about and no risk of the sites email being marked as spam, as can happen. The most time consuming bit is when users unsubscribe as they need updating on the website, but that only takes a few minutes.

You'll need to expand on this a bit...as I am not quite sure what you mean.

I think maybe you mean different prices for different customers, like retail vs wholesale (for example) ?

Yes, B2B wholesale.
We have several thousand products (beers, wine, spirits etc.). Many items are priced as standard for all. However, many also are not. Customers can buy any product at the main price but will have customer specific prices on some other items.

Apologies if I'm unaware of current facilities in Phoenix as it's been a while.
On my old test opencart site I had a bit of code to allow any item specifically priced for any customer group. A customer could be assigned to a group and gain the correct "specific price"; all other pricing would still be taken off the main price file.

Thanks for that.
I seem to remember looking at that a few years back.
Certainly getting there
