Open Source Ecomm in a Shopify World

Open source software gives you full control. You can change anything: the layout, the checkout flow, how products work, and how your team uses the admin.

You can share knowledge, ideas, and code.

How do we make everyone more aware of this important facet of Open-Source.

I'd like to see the extended community become more dynamic, sharing and helpful etc.
But unsure exactly how to enable this.

I did make a Reddit to try to widen the Venn Diagram of community.
Forums are kind of old-fashioned, I'd suggest ?

I don't think forums are old fashioned, Reddit itself is a forum and it's hugely popular.

The osC forum was huge, but it built up over many years. One (among many) hugely positive thing with this forum is that the main knowledgable people that were over there are now over here :)

Just need to keep plugging away and getting a critical mass here. One thing that does irk me a little is the often too quick suggestion to "find a developer" when people are seeking help.

There's a few sides to this quadrangle...covered many times in the past so I won't go over it again.

Without going into a long debate... I'll simply say if any given help fails, or the help request is just too big/expansive...I think that getting people to at least "seek a quote" is generally decent advice. Remembering that those developers are part of the wider Phoenix ecosphere...and (some of) those developers are doing a lot in the background that goes unnoticed by the vast majority here.
