I don't see where, in the What's New module (products_new.php), there is any way to sort, or filter, what is shown. In a shop where new products are rarely added, do we really want to show items added a year ago as 'new'?

1) Is there a way to add a filter to 'limit' the displayed items to those added in, say, the last X months (preferably configurable in Admin)?

2) If so, can we also set up that the What's New module to only be displayed IF there was indeed something 'new' to show (in the box, and/or in the customer's greeting)?

It could very well be. There was another member @wal who was wanting something similar - ie the ability to do "more interesting" things than just listing by newest.
