This one made a year and a half ago on Phoenix 1.0.4.0, it is now being rebuild on Phoenix 1.0.8.0 as I was rather clueless back then, and is a little less clueless now.

and this one still under development on Phoenix 1.0.7.12, soon to be updated.

None of them is mine, but I'm helping them both, and am their contact to this forum.

This is my site. Running currently on 1.0.7.11 and plans to upgrade soon. Its stuffed full with supporters codes, and other custom code updated by @burt, @BrockleyJohn and @raiwa plus other developers. Its taking 200-300 orders a weekmainly to customers in the UK but several a week go abroad, and it's working well in the search engines and can be found on many 1st pages on google, and others. Only thing to do when the site is next updated to a later version is to do away with the left hand boxes as they are pretty much redundant, its only there because some customers still use it.

Lots of time and effort have been put into addons and stuff on the backend as that's where most on my time is wasted. There are lots of reports that have been updated from older addons, and everything has been done to make daily tasks as easy as possible. Invoice printing can be done in bulk using an older addon from @burt , as can label printing using a csv file as coded by @burt.

This site was originally started 13 years ago on an old copy of oscommerce and has been updated through the versions. There is a development happening on 1.0.8.0. and the site will eventually be updated to that when time and more money allows.

Only advice I would give is to build a site to meet your requirements first, then one that meets the needs of your customers. Most of my customers are of the older generation who may not be that internet savvy so things have been made as simple as possible. The basic look is easy to change, even if its only adding different fonts and colours. The whole idea of the site is to sell stuff so make it easy to do.

Remove the spaces from the url as I don't want a link here.

Failing that google railwayscenics

This is, I think, excellent advice. Who uses a shop the most? The shopowner!

I think a lot of shopowners put too much emphasis on every piece of customer feedback. When I was full time helping shopowners with osc, I had one shopowner who would chop and change things based on 1 customers feedback, then change same thing again based on another customers ideas/wants/needs, then 6 months down the line revert to how it was. And pay me for doing that! 100s of £$e ... kind of wasted.

Of course, this is not to say that customers should not be given the best site possible within the constraints of knowledge/money/time etc
I am not here to build for you.
I am here to build with you. Let's help each other.
