Install fails for some people

Post by artfulweb »

Hi Matt, thanks for all your efforts. A new problem arises as my host and some others have now switched to Mysql 8 as I posted in the community forum and the install for Phoenix cart can not work due to not only the authentification process as well as other functions. The tables do upload but the rest of the process fails so there is no getting past the first page of the install, so no more testing possibilities and soon older working sites will be forced to accept mysql 8! Has anyone started working on this? Thanks again.

This does not seem to be a 1.0.8.21 issue. I don't think it is a MySQL 8 issue either, as others have succeeded with MySQL 8. It may be a MySQL 8 configuration issue, but I don't know what that configuration is.

Rainer reported something similar earlier but was able to work around it.

Some possible workarounds to try:

1. Use MariaDB instead of MySQL.
2. Create the configure.php files manually (I think that this is what raiwa did).
3. Use Softaculous or Installtron to do the install.
4. Change https://github.com/CE-PhoenixCart/Phoen ... le.php#L18 to true before attempting the install. I.e.

Code: Select all

    protected $split = true;
If someone with this problem wants to give me access to their site, I could try to diagnose it over the weekend. I would need sufficient access to view log files, edit files, use phpMyAdmin, run the installer.

Seems to be "user error";
