News letter slow to send

Have a 300 word (no html) newsletter and it has taken 2 hrs so far, to send to 43 customers.

Any ideas as to why

How many are you sending as some hosts restrict how many can be sent per hour?

We have never used the inbuilt newsletter as it can lead to problems with the website if you get reported too many times as sending spam emails. There are free to use email sending systems out there that are so much better, but again it depends on how many you are sending.

I have just checked and 51/2hrs later it's still sending.

I would contact your hosts and see if they have any settings to slow it down. Mine used to allow sending of 500 a day in batches of 250, but yours may be different.

Also check your error logs to see if ther eis anyhting there that may show a cause.
