Password not working after update?

Hi all, hope someone can help here but after installing the update yesterday v1.0.8.0 everything was working fine but today i can't log in, just keeps saying that the password is wrong (i know it isnt) so is there a way to reset password for admin or some failsafe to log back in on admin side?

This is the second time I tried to log in with a correct admin passwd and got "Invalid." The first time (some weeks ago) I had to delete the database and start again (a LOT of work). This time, I tried the remedy suggested by ecartz. The lines ecartz quotes do not exist in my .htaccess (1.0.8.20). I am dead in the water. Any suggestions for reset an administrator passwd? Many thanks.

Please disregard my post on resetting admin password. I enabled .htaccess, etc. and now am back in business. Sorry for distraction.
