Recover Cart Sales (RCS) Module for Phoenix Cart 1.1.0.6 Testing

Post by Mort_Lemur »

Hi everyone,

I’ve developed a "Recover Cart Sales" (RCS) module for Phoenix Cart 1.1.0.6 and I’m looking for a few testers to help verify it before a wider release. - PM me for a copy of the files

Key Features:
  • Non-Core Mod: Uses standard hooks; no changes to core files.

Compatibility: Built for PHP 8.2 and Phoenix Cart 1.1.0.6.

Admin Dashboard: Includes a report for abandoned carts, manual email triggers, and a recovered sales report.

Fully Localized: Language definitions are separated from logic.
What I’m looking for:
I’d love for testers to install this in a staging/dev environment and verify:
  • Tracking: Do abandoned carts show up correctly in the "Recovered Cart Sales" admin page?

Email Functionality: Does the email trigger correctly, and does the link back to the cart work as expected?

Permissions: Do the reports show up correctly in the Admin menu?

Compatibility: Any conflicts with other modules?
Installation:
The module uses the standard catalog/includes/hooks/ and admin/ structure. 9 new files and an SQL command to run

Feedback:
If you encounter any issues, please reply with your PHP version and any relevant entries from your error logs.

Thank you in advance for your time and testing!

I'm beginning to think my posts are invisible...................

I'm busily producing mods for Phoenix that I found invaluable on my 15 years on OSC sites - All being released for FREE as payback for support past and future.

Recently I have asked for a little support in testing 3 modifications (which again will be released for FREE once tested) and apart from a couple (and I mean 2!) of takers, there has been complete silence. Yet when released my mods get many downloads, so someone must like them.

I keep getting drawn back to @burt post about a shop owner walking into a bar.....

Anyway, Rant over, back to producing more FREE stuff.

Don't be disheartened; it is increasingly difficult to get interest in much of anything. I think it's a combination of core Phoenix being solid, people being busy, and more or less a consumer mindset rather than a stakeholder mindset.

When I see this sort of thing, I always wonder if there are sufficient shop owners using the more recent versions to be able help out like this? Do we have any idea of the number of downloads by version or at least for the most recent version?

We don't. All we have is a list of members who voluntarily put their version in their profile;
https://phoenixcart.org/forum/memberlis ... &sk=l&sd=d

But honestly, I'm not sure the version number is the real issue. Even if we had a hundred people on 1.1.0.6, would they test? The silence Heathers getting suggests the problem isn't compatibility - it's that people aren't stepping up to help, regardless of what they're running.

The version might matter at the edges, but anything reasonably recent would probably be just fine especially if addon maker stuck to that golden rule "no core changes". At worst, it would be "I tried it, I uploaded on v1.x.y.z - it caused this issue" - GOLDEN feedback.

Keep ranting, its great to see, and no your posts are not invisible, well not to me anyway.

Personally my site is too old for me to mess with. I am in the process of updating the website and am currently working through all my old modules. One of them was a supporters code for recover carts, which although old, is working. May be I am not the only one who is using this module. There were hundreds of older supporters modules.

I also think many store owners using this software are only interested in using what's available and have no interest in helping others, but will always come and ask for help (another rant for another day). I may fall into that category as I am unable to help with new version help as I dont know it myself yet. Also remember that there may not be as many users here as there were on the old oscommerce forum.

Only thing I have noticed is that there are no files anywhere in this thread so unable to test, unless I am missing the usual zip folder attachment thingy.

My only suggestion is to keep doing what you are doing.

@burt You are probably right Gary. Looking at the listing and number of 1.0.6.0 users that have been active over the last few days I would have expected a few more of them to jump in. The lack of support is likely a combination of all the factors mentioned.

It's increasingly difficult to change consumers/readers to stakeholders/do-ers -> case in point is your excellent Queued Emails thread. That thread you made is Golden. We just keep trying, I guess.
I am not here to build for you.
