I like it because everything looks quite simple.
I like the design, as it's quite "bold" - square things, big fonts, well spaced, minimal colours.

Can I link to a (commercial - official) bootstrap template? ... More or less also clean but with some more functionality (optional).

I'd prefer to see actual websites as templates sometimes have cool features at first glance, but when you get to it, those features don't actually work (put another way, it's super simple to drop some HTML into a template, it's a lot more difficult to get similar working in PHP/SQL etc). Hope this makes sense?

Surprised this topic got little response, as it was posted with intention to be the start of creation of a number of themes, as one thing I get pretty much constantly feedback about is "all Phoenix look the same".

This might spark a bit of debate between designers, developers and hacks like me lol

My personal feelings are that Phoenix Cart needs to have its mood lightened to have first impression sex appeal like other open source carts who have a basic template out of the box that looks clean and stylish.

I maybe wrong but the "other" carts appeal to designers as well as developers but Phoenix Cart does not seem to have the same appeal as it seems a bit sad and old skool out of the box. I love the fact that I can modify any part of the store front without massive amounts of work.

Phoenix Cart is gaining traction all the time but maybe it just needs taking to the next level.

As I do not know the core team personally I can see that they are a team of developers and not so much designers (if I am wrong I apologise), maybe its time for a designer to join the team to give some pizazz to the core design.

I am not knocking anyone or anything connected to Phoenix Cart as I love it! and will continue to use and support it for a long time to come

I hope your words do spark a debate. TY!

Phoenix needs to modernize more and an updated design can help this immensely.
I need help and advice, from as many as possible, phoenix and non-phoenix shops, to tell me what functions/looks good and what functions/looks rubbish.

Side Note:
I have learned from working on a completely different "hobby" script that what something looks like is more important than how it functions!

I would love to have a designer build a template. As is, the only templates we have are default and a couple others Burt made. An unfortunately underused system. At one point, I tried to buy one, but I rather think they overestimated the amount of work involved.
