Royal Mail Addon

Post by cbs »

Hi,

Just wondering if there is a Royal Mail Click and Drop addon already made? If so does it submit products, price etc to Click and Drop and bring the tracking back for the customers to see?

Thank you

As far as I am aware there is nothing available for RM click and drop. I am sure one of the developers would create something for you.

The nearest we have is a downloadable orders spreadsheet that we can upload to Click and drop on a daily basis with all the information RM needs, but we have to add in the tracking manually to every order. The spread sheet and the tracking bit are both pro addons so you will need to go pro to get them. It is one of the perks of supporting Phoenix and just one of many additional addons not available else where.

Was hoping for a more automatic way of doing it, might try and make one in the next couple of months.

This has been on my "when I get time" list for a while... I will try to find some for it.

There's quite a bit involved as I believe you can't send partial information; you can only create the order and as well as the obvious address, weight and packaging type they require the value of products ex tax and shipping, shipping charged ex tax... and for NI customers there's all the customs data (HS codes and COO).

Unless you've an OBA you'll still need to log into Click and Drop to print the labels.

What core version(s) are you on?

@BrockleyJohn We use a spreadsheet to import the data but there is still loads of work to do once the information is uploaded into Click and Drop. That creates the orders. This may be different if the user has a OBA but I believe that the system is not that far different.

We then have to pack the orders, weigh them and then when creating the label, make sure that the weight is correct so the postage is correct.

We have to manually check all addresses are spot on as we have found errors in what the customer inputs and also what is on RM.

We then have to select the postal method required on every order as they use some funny codes for each postal service, which could be added to the admin side somewhere.

If its an international order, the product information is required plus the tariff code as their system gets them wildly wrong and then the country of origin, and the type of goods or gift. Each product needs that information as the customs slips list every product in the order.

Once the orders have been posted we then have to manually enter the tracking information into every order on the website.

I know there are integrations for some other ecommerce stores but no idea how they work.

Good luck if you do get this working.

I think that's about all we have to do when doing it manually.

So with a little help from AI, this should be fully working.

Currently this just sends the Name, Shipping Address, Billing Address and Product details to Royal Mail Click and Drop using the API. Currently this does not bring the tracking number back, will be working on that in the next few months.

In Royal Mail Click and Drop you'll need to add the API integration and get the authorisation key (make sure the chain symbol is green). Near the bottom of RoyalMailAutoExport.php file its says $api_key = 'API-KEY'; you'll need to replace API-KEY with your API key

Any suggestions/comments would be greatly appreciate. I've only used this on a staging site, will be putting it into a live site later this week.
