Breadcrumb - rethought, revamped, reloaded

Post by burt »

The Usual Breadcrumb:

It is just the usual Bootstrap breadcrumb, nothing fancy.
@azpro in the Phoenix shop feedback thread...thought the Breadcrumb might be modernised.

So how about this, the Smart Breadcrumb:

Changes:
Slightly wider spacing.
Change divider to `Arrow`.

So far, a bit better. How about in small viewports, where it changes to this;

This UI change, keeps the breadcrumb from overflowing onto Multiple lines, therefore saving on "real estate" when in a Small View (eg Mobile).

Can be seen in action;

Resize Viewport to approximate phone-sized and the breadcrumb should react accordingly.

Any Feedback on the general idea (of a `Smart Breadcrumb` that reacts to viewport size), would be really appreciated. As well as any cosmetic changes etc that might make it even nicer.

A standard installation of Phoenix is installed in the 'Catalog' sub-directory

ie: <root> / <catalog>

The standard breadcrumb has the 'House' (ie: home) linked to the root directory.

I don't think most shop owners want to give their customers a link that takes the customers outside of the shop (ie: to the <root> directory).

I always edit the breadcrumb, removing the <root> link, and change the <catalog> link icon to the 'House' (ie: home)

I have my shop on root, and remove catalog and set House to home, it's similar than you :)

Very good idea! I like the implementation as well.
This would be quite useful for a lot of people, I think.

I'll do some finalised testing on the Bread - if anyone else wants to try to break it as well that would be helpful.

And then, assuming all well, I'll share it as a Monthly Addon.
