Looks great!
What is the `real life` use, that a shopowner might use it for?

It does look slick; presumably it's an interface for staff to serve customers in the shopowner's bricks-and-mortar store, while keeping all the stock control and order/payment records in Phoenix.

Point-Of-Sale & stock systems are surprisingly expensive and then you have to do a stock/orders integration with Phoenix on top to keep the stock figures in sync.

Nowadays POS & stock systems are cloud-based so there's no additional dependency on your internet connection by relying on Phoenix being available and you're saving $$s a month on SaaS fees.

For many retailers you'd want at least barcode as a search option too, (if not a direct add by barcode field) and I guess that scanning a serial number barcode against a product during checkout could be supported through the Add a Note option.

The sort of additional things that a purpose-built POS system does is send the amount to the card machine on a card payment, open the till drawer on a cash payment, print the receipt without intervention. Of these, depending on how careful the staff are, it's quite possible the most important is sending the correct amount to the card machine. In the UK there's an online API with Payment Sense that can do this for many of the card terminal providers.

I suspect that in real life you'll need to be able to sell things in store whose entries are incomplete for publication and possibly have some products that are collect only.

I'm thinking it might be used to create an Order for customer who is unable to use the Internet in the normal way?

Or just products_model. Maybe a new action? Barcode readers are surprisingly easy to set up if you can get the system to show the right web page. Possibly a shopping cart content module with an auto-focused text input. Or even have the form configured into the bar reader.

Good idea. Search by GTIN, if GTIN matches automatcally add to cart.

I checked out how to add a card machine / interface. From what I see it is quite complicated, but doable.

For now there are 2 simple payment options in frankPOS - cash, and credit card (where credit card is processed separately, and then the last 4 digits of the card are entered into the POS sale as a reference).

Till drawer opens with a signal from the (usually thermal) receipt printer.

I was talking to a friend the other day about what website we use and how easy would it be to create a website for him to create a store for this products, and link it to his POS. I was advised in another thread that was started and they recommended this POS system.

Simple question. If a shop owner is already using a POS system can it be linked to a phoenixcart store using this system? Or is this a stand alone system.

The current POS system they have does everything they want it to in the B&M stores, and gives detailed sales reports and the like at the end of the day, week and month, including a breakdown of sales into cash and card plus produces an order list for stock replenishment. The staff have all been trained in its use and really enjoy using what they already have. Dead easy to use with barcode scanners most stores use now. What they were thinking was having the cart linked to the main store as it carries most stock where staff can pick and pack online orders.

Sounds like a question for the POS provider...does it have the ability to accept data from external sources?

As we have been using it for almost a year, I can confirm that it is connected to PhoenixCart and is not a standalone system. All sales made through the POS are shown in the admin panel, and stock and customer information are also available directly on the POS.

It doesn’t come with those reports out of the box, but you can create custom reports to fit your needs, including sales breakdowns and stock replenishment reports.
we have create a custom report- picking from storage to replenishment

There are other add-ons that allow Phoenix to do, say, a telephone order.

But, I believe that a well designed PoS system *should* be able to accept a telephone order too. And, if integrated into Phoenix, would alleviate the need for an additional add-on.
