I'm using three main things on my admin page these days...

1. The links manager by Heather.
2. The task list by Daniel
3. The Admin Stats modules which I think are part of core and similar to the IBar modules @Omar_one mentioned above, just not gussied up as much.

In addition to the standard orders, customer lists etc.

Dan

TY for posting, all :+1: By the magic of modularity, hooks etc, you've all been able to make your index page what you want it to be. YOUR Phoenix... right? :+1: :D Perfect. :+1: :+1:

What I'm aiming for is to have the page look more appealing first glance. That means, I guess, the default page needs to make a good first impression. It needs to look like it's doing something, look sleek, and "feel" a bit more modern than what ships at the moment.

Perhaps we need to think about how the page looks when there's no data to display. Maybe even a demo mode that shows what the dashboard can look like with customer and orders? Unsure how that might work, but it might be interesting.

Changes in the page is not necessarily about what information everyone wants to see every day, but more what a potential Phoenix user sees when they first open Admin.

Perhaps a module that says something like
List of things to do to get this working the way that you want:

1. Go to :icon: Modules > Dashboard
2. Install the modules that you want to see here. Don't worry. If you don't like them, you can uninstall them.
3. Go to :icon: Template Manager to configure your shop appearance.
4. Go to :icon: Catalog and set up your categories and add your products.
5. And perhaps uninstall this module now that it's served its purpose.
It could also show some thumbnails of how the modules could look. Or put that in a different module.

You can make that module arbitrarily pretty, since it's not meant to stay. I.e. it doesn't have to put function over appearance.

You're 100% correct for an established store - if you're fulfilling orders, a dashboard chart is just wallpaper.
But the value (to Phoenix) is that the Dash looks pretty enough to someone evaluating the software as a potential to use.

There's a massive difference between a veteran 25yr merchant...who harks back to the early days of osC, and the day 10 merchant who has an idea, has maybe put together a plan and is now looking at Shopify and maybe asking for other recommendations.
I want to see what has been ordered, by whom, and when at a glance
Having that page as functional as a `brick wall` is very doable by installing addons, making your own dashboard items to suit individual needs and so on. IE, the concept of making Phoenix into "Your Phoenix", which is the way forward for Phoenix and its users ongoing, the idea of making it "yours"...because when something is Yours, you've made it into an integral and valuable part of your business, which circles back & leads to benefits for our Phoenix ecosphere here.

Out of the box, the Dash needs to sell Phoenix to someone testing it for 10 minutes. <--- this is where I'm at right now. Phoenix is incredibly functional, but not all that pretty. Pretty things sell.

Looks good, just a random idea, what about as a tab system?

Would look great as Tabs, however these are separate modules.
I only have time to prettify a bit, I have no time to full rewrite unfortunately.

What would happen to XML Sitemaps, for example?

They would look as-is they do now, as that is an addon. :+1:

The idea is to make the Dashboard modules that are in Core Code look pretty - only so that someone putting it up against another cart, might say; "not bad"...hope it makes sense.
