Hi All!
I started using oscommerce since 2003 and i'm looking now at Phoenixcart.
Can somebody tell me something i don't get at the moment:
- in many places there is the use of hooks, for example orders.php but i dont see any class with a name hook.php (in google i found some classes but in the version .8 i cannot find such a file
- i found the file in a subfolder /includes/system/versioned/1.0.7.4, can somebody tell me what's the system directory for? and versioned? are the files there in use or only for history?
as i understood the phoenixcart ist not "dead" and still work on it, is that correct? (and it has nothing to do with the new oscommerce 4.0...., new ownership....new system...and i have read not so good things in the forum about it)
and my last question if i click on "addons" in the admin i get to the old site from oscommerce, is that correct? that's the official and only place to download plugins for phoenix? the age of most plugins are 1-2 years...are most of them compatible to the newes phoenix or is it trial an error?
thank you in advance and i hope i can start my new shop with cePhoenix as i know the code from oscommerce 2003 100% blind ....and i hope so i can migrate easyer to phoenix
Regards
Philipp

Re: Addons / Forum question
CE Phoenix Cart is moving away from the oscocmmerce - if you install or update your CE Phoenix version to the latest release, 1.0.8.0, you will see that link will bring you here.

Yes, the latest version is 1.0.8.0 and 1.0.8.1 will be released soon and work is now being done on 1.0.8.2 - CE Phoenix Cart is very alive!

Re: Addons / Forum question
The most recent version is currently in use. Older versions are there for historical compatibility if needed. I'll probably weed out some of the historical versions soon, as some of them are from osCommerce.
We are not now nor ever were associated with the new osC 4.0 -- that's an entirely different piece of software that forked from osC at a different point. We are in active development and have released seven versions so far this year. Although two of them were to remove osC. I hope to get back to a more measured pace in a couple versions. I currently have a backlog of code that I didn't want to introduce before the 1.0.8.0 release.
For now, the official place to download add-ons is from this forum: viewforum.php?f=11
There are also some paid add-ons available from our partners or if you go Pro.
Add-ons posted anywhere else may or may not work. We are considering options for better tracking version compatibility in the future.

There is a basic explanation of using hooks in the User Guide - https://phoenixcart.org/phoenixcartwiki ... a_New_Hook

Re: Addons / Forum question
I thought that that was answered implicitly: it's the most recent hooks.php file from includes/system/versioned. I think that you said that was includes/system/versioned/1.0.7.4/hooks.php in the version that you have. In 1.0.8.0 it would be includes/system/versioned/1.0.7.other/1.0.7.12/hooks.php and in 1.0.8.1 it will be includes/system/versioned/1.0.8.1/hooks.php
