In stock option checked, but stock level 0

Post by gsmiley007 »

Version: 1.0.8

Noticed if I have product that is selected in stock, but has a 0 stock level, it shows up in the store for the public.

Just wondering if that was by design?

Yes, it’s how it is intended.

You can change the way this works by changing the stock settings in your admin - configuration - stock and change the setting in there so that out of stock items are not visible.

That doesn't change this. That's the current setting in this case.

What happens is that when a product goes out of stock, it is set to not visible. But regardless of the stock setting, it will be visible if it is set to be visible. Stock level has no effect on visibility unless there is an order. As part of the order process, out-of-stock items are marked to be not visible if the store is configured that way. But there is no configuration for "Check the stock level before showing the product".
