Change customers_id in database ?

Post by ReneH4 »

I have a number of customers that created a new account after getting a new mail address.

The attachment shows two customer_id's for one single customer.

One is 240, the other is 5768.

For some loyal customers I would like to merge the accounts, so my question is

Can this simply done by changing the customer_id in the database?

Or am I thinking way too easy and is there more involved?

A bit scary, but I just did on my live database after making a backup:

In the orders of the "old" customer id, I changed both customer_id AND customers_email_address.

Looking back in the order history of this customer he already did a mail-addres change, so I guess only changing the customer_id in the orders table would have done the trick.
