@Omar_one and I are working on a filter that filters bases on attributes. Once done, it'll be uploaded as a free addon. It could be modified to work with the soecifications as well (something that I plan to do later).
It works, but not to well for multiple filtering options (read: not at all for multiple options). I hope to have it done soon, but studies and work leave only little time at the momemt, so it might not be before the new year.
We have a draft for filtering product listing based on attributes.
There are plans to extend the functionality (see readme), but for now this is what we have.
It is tested on 1.0.8.2 and until 1.0.8.8.
It will be released as a real addon, once it has been cleaned up and made into a module.
I will gladly receive feedback and see if I can implement suggestions. Please see what is planned already in readme before suggesting things though. If someone wants to, you are free to play with the code, improve it and make it your own.
