You can check the version of Phoenix that you are using - from admin go to Tools → Version Checker

Your version number will be shown there - for example:

Installed Version: OSCOM CE Phoenix v1.0.2.6

Phoenix is regularly updated with improvements so keep up to date by visiting the News section of Phoenixcart.

Updates are released as a separate download only containing those files that have been changed.

To install a new version follow the instructions given with the latest release - usually it just means transferring the new files to your host server over writing the old ones.

If you are behind on updating new releases you must install all of the updates one by one e.g. if you are currently running v1.0.2.6 and the latest version to be released is v1.0.2.9, you must first install v1.0.2.7, then v1.0.2.8, then v1.0.2.9

If you are managing your own software then it is recommended to make an account at GitHub (it's free) and learn how to use GitHub to keep your own version up to date - see How to use GitHub
