Setup Shop

If you are in U.S.A. or have installed another language pack the following changes might not be necessary.

This step makes changes to the 2 main language files.

There is a main language file for the shop side and another for the admin side of the website.

Changes to any language file for the shop side are made to a copy which is saved in a new location in the override template.

This prevents them being overwritten in updates.

Changes to any language file for the admin side are saved in the original location.

Open the main language file for the shop side from your backup folder/directory - /includes/languages/english.php

Save a copy to /templates/override/includes/languages/english.php.

Create the new folder/directory languages in the /templates/override/includes/ if necessary.

Make changes to this copy.

CE Phoenix is set for U.S.A. English with USD currency and m/d/y date format by default.

Set Up Locality

Find the following lines:

// 'en_US.UTF-8', 'en_US.UTF8', 'enu_usa'
// 'en_GB.UTF-8', 'en_GB.UTF8', 'eng_gb'
// 'en_AU.UTF-8', 'en_AU.UTF8', 'ena_au'
@setlocale(LC_ALL, array('en_US.UTF-8', 'en_US.UTF8', 'enu_usa'));

Change the code within the brackets in the last line to one of the options shown above it.

E.g. for Great Britain change to

@setlocale(LC_ALL, array('en_GB.UTF-8', 'en_GB.UTF8', 'eng_gb'));

Set the Date Format

Find the following lines:

const DATE_FORMAT_SHORT = '%m/%d/%Y'; // this is used for strftime()
const DATE_FORMAT_LONG = '%A %d %B, %Y'; // this is used for strftime()
const DATE_FORMAT = 'm/d/Y'; // this is used for date()
const DATE_TIME_FORMAT = DATE_FORMAT_SHORT . ' %H:%M:%S';

Change the order of month, day and year to your requirements.

Set the Currency

Find the following line:

const LANGUAGE_CURRENCY = 'USD';

E.g. for Great Britain change to:

const LANGUAGE_CURRENCY = 'GBP';

To find your 3 letter currency code, internet search ISO 4217 Codes.

Save the file.

Repeat the changes above for the admin main language file.

Navigate to /youradmin/includes/languages/ to find english.php.

Save the file.

Now, either using the control panel on your host server or using FTP software, upload the files to overwrite those on the server.

IMPORTANT: Double check that the files are uploaded to the correct locations.
